Flowers tightly clustered on a tall, leafless stalk.
Perennial.
Blooms March-May.
Common on open slopes and hills, edges of brush and open woods throughout the park.

Flowers openly clustered with flower stalks radiating from one point at the top of a tall leafless stalk.
Perennial.
Blooms April-June.
Heavy soils of grassland and open woods. Common throughout.

Like Ithuriel's Spear, but flowers usually darker, usually only one or two flowers open on each flower stalk, and stalks not as tall.
Perennial.
Blooms May-July.
Fairly common on heavy soils of grassy slopes and hilltops of west side of the park.
