Adenostoma fasciculatum. {++} CHAMISE. GREASEWOOD. Shrub. Dry slopes and ridges. Bl late Apr-Jul and rarely as late as Dec. The most abundant shrub in the park and found throughout.


Amelanchier utahensis {++} (=Amelanchier pallida). WESTERN SERVICE BERRY. UTAH SERVICE-BERRY. JUNE BERRY. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl May. Uncommon on dry shady slopes, W side of park. Mile Trail, the Narrows, Kelly Cabin Cyn, S end Mahoney Meadows, Jackson Tr, Grizzly Gulch Tr.


Aphanes occidentalis {++} (=Alchemilla occidentalis). WESTERN LADY'S MANTLE. DEW CUP. Annual. Bl Mar-Apr. Common in open grassy or wooded places throughout.


Cercocarpus betuloides. {++} CALIFORNIA MOUNTAIN-MAHOGANY. HARD TACK. BIRCHLEAF MOUNTAIN-MAHOGANY. BIRCHLEAF CERCOCARPUS. Shrub or small tree. Bl Mar-Jun. Common on dry slopes and washes throughout.


Heteromeles arbutifolia {++} (=Photinia arbutifolia). TOYON. CHRISTMASBERRY. CALIFORNIA-HOLLY. Shrub or small tree. Bl Jun-Aug.  Fr ripe Nov-Feb. Common on brushy slopes and in canyons throughout.


Holodiscus discolor. {++} OCEAN SPRAY. CREAM BUSH. Shrub. Bl May-Jul. Fairly common in woods and on shady rocky slopes in W and S sides of park. Soda Springs Cyn, Pine Ridge (Live Oak Tr, Flat Frog Tr, Forest Tr), Little Fk Coyote Ck, Middle Ridge, Middle Fk Coyote Ck, Big Cyn, Coyote Ck, Mahoney Ridge (near Grapevine Spr), E Fk Coyote Ck (The Narrows), Kelly Cabin Cyn, Pacheco Ridge (E slope), Burra Burra Pk, Hunting Hollow, Braen Cyn.


*Malus sylvestris {++} (=Malus pumila. Pyrus malus). APPLE. Tree. Deciduous. Bl Apr-May. Planted on Pine Ridge near Coe HQ and at Arnold Field. Native of Eurasia.


Oemleria cerasiformis {++} (=Osmaronia cerasiformis). OSO BERRY. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl Mar-Apr. Canyons and moist hillsides. W and S side of park, generally uncommon. Soda Springs Cyn, Sycamore Cyn, Little Fk Coyote Ck, Middle Fk Coyote Ck, Los Cruzeros, Coyote Ck gate, Dowdy Ranch, Braen Cyn..


Physocarpus capitatus. {++} PACIFIC NINEBARK. WESTERN NINEBARK. Shrub. Bl May-Jun. Moist banks and slopes. Known only from Soda Springs Canyon, where common.


Potentilla glandulosa. {++} STICKY CINQUEFOIL. STICKY POTENTILLA. Perennial. Bl May & probably longer. Fairly common in woods & canyons. Soda Springs Cyn, Pine Ridge (Forest Tr), Little Fk Coyote Ck, Middle Fk Coyote Ck, Grizzly Ck, Mahoney Ridge (China Hole Tr, Lost Spr), Kelly Cabin Cyn, E Fk Coyote Ck, Willow Ridge, Canteen Spr, N Fk Pacheco Ck (Pacheco Falls, Hole-in-the-Rock), Mississippi Ck N of lake, side cyn of Red Ck N of Bear Mtn, Hartman Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck, Dowdy Ranch, upper reaches of Grizzly Gulch, Hunting Hollow parking area.


*Prunus armeniaca. {++} APRICOT. Tree. Deciduous. Bl spr. Planted at historic "Widow Hobbs" cabin site at Deer Horn camp. Native of China.


*Prunus dulcis {++} (=Prunus amygdalus). ALMOND. Tree. Deciduous. Bl Jan-Mar. Planted at Coe HQ, Madrone Soda Springs, Dowdy Ranch. Native of Eurasia.


Prunus ilicifolia. {++} HOLLYLEAF CHERRY. ISLAY. EVERGREEN CHERRY. Shrub or tree. Bl Apr-May. Common on often shady dry slopes throughout.


Prunus virginiana var. demissa. {++} WESTERN CHOKECHERRY. Shrub or small tree. Deciduous. Bl May. Dampish places in woods and on brushy slopes and flats. Uncommon. Madrone Soda Springs, Sycamore Cyn, Divide Ridge, Grizzly Ck, Grizzly Gulch (largest thicket noted in park is ca 1/8 mi NW of Tule Pond on NE-facing slopes), Hunting Hollow.


*Prunus sp. {++} Unidentified small tree. Deciduous. Bl Mar-Apr. Only one along W end of the Fish Tr. Almost certainly a non-native escape from cultivation.


*Pyracantha sp. {++} FIRETHORN. Shrub. Only one seen along Kaiser-Aetna Rd near Bell Station. Native of Eurasia.


Rosa californica. {++} CALIFORNIA WILD ROSE. CALIFORNIA ROSE. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl Mar-Oct. Along streams & other moist places. Fairly common throughout.




Rosa gymnocarpa. {++} WOOD ROSE. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl May and probably longer. Shaded woods. Madrone Soda Springs area, Big Cyn, Little Fk Coyote Ck, Grizzly Gulch.


Rosa spithamea {++} (=Rosa spithamea var. sonomensis). GROUND ROSE. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl May-Jul. Dry slopes. Pine Ridge.


*Rosa sp. {++} ROSE. Shrub. Bl spr-fall. Unidentified sp(p) of cultivated roses are planted at Coe HQ and Dowdy Ranch.


*Rubus discolor {++} (=Rosa procerus). HIMALAYA BERRY. HIMALAYA BLACKBERRY. Sprawling shrub. Bl May-Jul. Naturalized at Coe HQ and in Soda Springs Cyn; not evidently spreading. Native of Eurasia.


Rubus ursinus {++} (=Rubus vitifolius). CALIFORNIA BLACKBERRY. PACIFIC BLACKBERRY. Vine. Bl Apr-May. Disturbed areas, fields, canyons. Fairly common W side, uncommon to east. Soda Springs Cyn, Big Cyn, Little Fk Coyote Ck, Middle Fk Coyote Ck, China Hole, Mahoney Ridge, Coyote Creek gate, Red Ck, Robinson Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck near NE park boundary.
