Ceanothus cuneatus. {++} BUCK BRUSH. Shrub. Bl Mar-Apr. Common on dry slopes and ridges throughout; usually in chaparral, but sometimes in open woodland.


Ceanothus leucodermis. {++} CHAPARRAL WHITETHORN. Shrub. Bl Apr-May. Dry rocky slopes. Ridge W of Red Ck and N of Bear Mtn; possibly also in far NE corner of park.


Ceanothus oliganthus var. sorediatus {++} (=Ceanothus sorediatus). JIM BRUSH. Shrub. Bl Mar-May. Fairly common on dry slopes and ridges. Coyote Ck opposite mouth of Soda Springs Cyn, Blue Ridge, Divide Ridge, Rock House Ridge, Kelly Cabin Cyn, rd up Bear Mtn from E Fk, W side Mississippi Lake, Mississippi Lake.


Rhamnus crocea. {++} REDBERRY. SPINY REDBERRY. Shrub. Bl Mar-Apr. Fairly common on dry shady slopes, but only in SE corner and S end of park: N of Burra Burra Pk; Redfern Addition (Hunting Hollow, Braen Cyn, Vasquez Tr, higher end of Grizzly Gulch). Sometimes grows with sp below, but each distinct in habit and leaf characteristics.


Rhamnus ilicifolia {++} (=Rhamnus crocea ssp. ilicifolia). HOLLYLEAF REDBERRY. HOLLYLEAF BUCKTHORN. Shrub or small tree. Bl Apr-May. Fr ripening Aug-Nov.  Common on dry partly shaded slopes throughout.


Rhamnus tomentella {++} (=Rhamnus californica var. tomentella). HOARY COFFEEBERRY. CHAPARRAL COFFEEBERRY. Shrub or sometimes a small tree. Bl May-Jun. Fr ripening Aug-Nov.  Common on often shady slopes and flats throughout.
