Aquilegia formosa {++} (=Aquilegia formosa var. truncata). CRIMSON COLUMBINE. RED COLUMBINE. NORTHWEST CRIMSON COLUMBINE. Perennial. Bl May-June. Uncommon in moist shady places. Little Fk Coyote Ck, Flat Frog Tr, Middle Fk Coyote Ck upstream of Mexican Flat, Soda Springs Canyon, Coyote Ck, the Narrows, Grizzly Gulch.
Clematis lasiantha. {++} PIPE-STEM. CHAPARRAL CLEMATIS. Half woody climbing vine. Bl Apr-May. Fairly common clambering over shrubs and in low trees, especially in central and E sections of park.
Clematis ligusticifolia. {++} WESTERN VIRGIN'S BOWER. YERBA DE CHIVATO. WESTERN CLEMATIS. WHITE CLEMATIS. Half-woody climbing vine. Bl Jul and probably longer. Climbing over bushes and in trees, usually along streams and in moist places. Downstream from China Hole.
Delphinium californicum. {+} CALIFORNIA LARKSPUR. CALIFORNIA COAST DELPHINIUM. Perennial. Bl Apr-May. Moist or wet partly shaded places. N facing slopes of Willow Ridge E of Schafer Corral, NW of Kelly Lake in cyn, Mississippi Ck, Pinto Ck.
Delphinium decorum. {?} COAST LARKSPUR. COAST BLUE LARKSPUR. COAST DELPHINIUM. Perennial. Bl "Mar-May". Open grassy slopes. Reported from Fish Tr & along rd above Miller Field.
Delphinium hesperium. {+} WESTERN LARKSPUR. FOOTHILL DELPHINIUM. Perennial. Bl May-Jun. Grassy slopes and ridges. Along Hobbs Rd NNW of Frog Lake, N end of Flat Frog Tr, Fish Tr, Long Cyn, & Upper San Antonio Valley.
Delphinium nudicaule. {++} RED LARKSPUR. CANYON DELPHINIUM. Perennial. Bl Apr-Jun. Dry shady slopes and among shrubs and in woods. Uncommon. Little Fk Coyote Ck, the Narrows.
Delphinium parryi. {?} PARRY'S LARKSPUR. PARRY'S DELPHINIUM. Perennial. Bl "Apr-May". Grassy slopes. Reported from above E Fk Coyote Ck.
Delphinium patens. {+} COAST LARKSPUR. ZIGZAG DELPHINIUM. INLAND BLUE LARKSPUR. Perennial. Bl "Mar-Jun". Borders of thickets and in woods. Corral Trail, Flat Frog Trail, just below Upper Camp. This is probably the common nodding purple species in Coe woodlands.
Delphinium variegatum. {+} ROYAL LARKSPUR. Perennial. Bl "Apr-May". Open grassy hills and woods. Probably this sp common along Orestimba Tr, also at Coyote Ck gate.
Isopyrum occidentale. {++} WESTERN RUE-ANEMONE. Perennial. Bl Mar-Apr. Shaded places. Uncommon. In woods along E Fk Coyote Ck between mouths of Little Long Cyn & Water Gulch.
Isopyrum stipitatum. {++} SISKIYOU RUE-ANEMONE. Perennial. Bl Mar. Shaded banks of black oak woodland. Uncommon. Flat Frog Tr near Little Fk Coyote Ck, bottom of Cougar Trail.
Ranunculus aquatilis var. capillaceus. {+} WATER BUTTERCUP. WHITE WATER CROWFOOT. COMMON WATER CROW-FOOT. Aquatic perennial. Bl Mar-May & probably longer. Ponds and slow streams. Thomas Addition, Domino Pond, Kelly Lake, pool E of Hoover Lake airstrip, Coit Lake, ponds in & S of Upper San Antonio Valley, S Fk Orestimba Ck upstream from confluence with Red Ck, Lion Canyon.
Ranunculus californicus. {++} CALIFORNIA BUTTERCUP. Perennial. Bl Feb-Jun. Common throughout; probably the longest blooming and most widespread showy spring wildflower in the park.
Ranunculus hebecarpus. {++} DOWNY BUTTERCUP. Annual. Bl Mar-May. Common to fairly common in shaded places throughout, though rather inconspicuous.
*Ranunculus muricatus. {++} PRICKLEFRUIT BUTTERCUP. SPINY BUTTERCUP. Annual or perennial. Bl Spring. Wet area in Hunting Hollow parking lot. Native of Europe.
Thalictrum fendleri var. polycarpum {+} (=Thalictrum polycarpum). MANY-FRUITED MEADOW-RUE. Perennial. Bl Apr-May. Brush-covered slopes and along edges of chaparral in moist areas. Widespread but generally uncommon. Soda Springs Cyn, Little Fk Coyote Ck, Middle Fk Coyote Ck (upstream from Mexican Flat, Poverty Flat), Grizzly Ck, Little Long Cyn, Grizzly Gulch, E Fk Coyote Ck, Pinto Ck, Robinson Ck, Lion Cyn, Hartman Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck.
