*Alcea rosea {++} (=Althaea rosea). HOLLY-HOCK. Usually biennial. Escape from cultivation at Coe HQ. Bl summer. Said to be native of China, or possibly Asia Minor.


Malacothamnus fasciculatus. {+} CHAPARRAL MALLOW. Shrub. Bl Jun-Jul. Dry slopes & ridges. Uncommon. Kelly Cabin Cyn, Willow Ridge (near Eagle Pines), Mississippi Lake, Rooster Comb, westernmost fk of Coon Ck, ridge N of Tie-Down Pk, Burra Burra Pk, Raven Pond.


*Malva nicaeensis. {++} BULL MALLOW. Annual. Bl Apr-Jul. Disturbed areas. Coe HQ, Corral Tr, Dowdy Ranch. Native of Eurasia.


*Malva parviXora. {++} CHEESEWEED. Annual. Bl Apr & probably longer. Grassy hilltop E of Kaiser-Aetna Rd. Native of Eurasia.


Malvella leprosa {++} (=Sida hederacea. Sida leprosa var. hederacea). ALKALI MALLOW. Perennial. Bl May-Aug. Fairly common in creekbeds. China Hole, Thomas Addition (Middle Fk Coyote Ck), Mississippi Ck, Panther Gulch, N Fk Pacheco Ck (Hole-in-the-Rock).


Sidalcea diploscypha. {+} FRINGED SIDALCEA. Annual. Bl Apr-Jun. Open grassy hills. Pine Ridge (E end along China Hole Tr at ca 1400 ft elev), Middle Ridge, rd between Poverty Flat & Jackass Pass, Thomas Addition between cabin & Middle Fk Coyote Ck, Rock House Cyn, Rock House Ridge, Mahoney Ridge.


Sidalcea malvaeflora. {++} CHECKER MALLOW. CHECKER-BLOOM. WILD-HOLLYHOCK. Perennial. Bl May-Jun. Grassy slopes and hilltops. Kaiser-Aetna Road ca 2 miles north of Bell Station, Coon Hunter's Gulch, Phegley Ridge.
