California Juniper

Branches with ovulate cones (which resemble berries).

Near the northeastern park boundary close to the South Fork
of Orestimba Creek.

28 April 1993.

Habit, and habitat.

This large specimen across Coyote Creek from the China Hole
campsite is so non-descript, that many people---even those interested
in plants---don't notice it.  The first time I saw this individual, I walked
right beneath it before recognizing it, even though I was aware this
species occurred in the park and was hoping to see it!

29 June 1994.
