Ribes californicum. {++} HILLSIDE GOOSEBERRY. CALIFORNIA GOOSEBERRY. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl Jan-Apr. Wooded hills & slopes, edge of brush, and canyon bottoms. Common on W side, fairly common in rest of the park.


Ribes malvaceum. {++} CHAPARRAL CURRANT. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl late Nov-Apr. Uncommon to fairly common in chaparral & dry woodland. Pine Ridge (along rd to Poverty Flat, China Hole Tr), Blue Ridge (N of the Short Cut, S of Mt Sizer), Divide Ridge, Little Long Cyn, S end of Mahoney Meadows, Willow Ridge (near Eagle Pines), slopes SW of Rose Spr, ridge E of Hoover Lake airstrip, rd to Bear Mtn from W, N of Live Oak Spring, Mississippi Lake, Mississippi Ck, Board Spring, Red Ck, Pinto Ck, Kaiser-Aetna Rd between Dowdy Ranch & N Fk Pacheco crossing, Burra Burra Pk, upper reaches of Grizzly Gulch.


Ribes menziesii {+} (=Ribes menziesii var. leptosmum). CANYON GOOSEBERRY. BAY GOOSEBERRY. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl probably Mar-May. Open woods, edge of chaparral. Uncommon. Blue Ridge (at top of Short Cut, near Mt Sizer); probably also Water Gulch.  This identification is a broad interpretation of the species.


Ribes quercetorum {++} ROCK GOOSEBERRY. OAK GOOSEBERRY. Shrub. Deciduous. Bl Mar & probably earlier. Fairly common on dry bottomland and slopes, NE quarter of park. Upper San Antonio Valley, Red Ck, Robinson Ck, Lion Cyn, Hartman Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck, Mustang Flat area.


Ribes speciosum. {++} FUCHSIA-FLOWERED GOOSEBERRY. GARNET GOOSEBERRY. Shrub. Mostly deciduous, or evergreen in moister habitats. Bl late Nov-early Apr. Fairly common in shaded canyons and on hilltops in W & S b of park. Pine Ridge (Madrone Soda Springs Tr, near top of Cougar Tr, China Hole Tr), Divide Ridge, Rock House Ridge, E Fk Coyote Ck W of Bear Mtn, rd to Bear Mtn, Mahoney Ridge, Kelly Cabin Cyn, Willow Ridge (near Eagle Pines, Willow Ridge Spring), N Fk Pacheco Ck valley, ridge E of Coit Lake, Caviata Spring, Pacheco Ridge, County Line Rd a of the way up from Kaiser-Aetna Rd to Mustang Pk, Coon Ck watershed, Burra Burra Pk, N of Center Flats, upper reaches of Grizzly Gulch.
