Gnaphalium californicum
California Everlasting; Green Everlasting
Detail of inflorescence from photo below.
Inflorescence.
Along China Hole Trail in prescribed burn area, above junction with Cougar Trail.
20 June 1995.
Habit, same location and time as above.
Old involucres with fruit dispersed.
What appear to be petals are the bracts of each flower head.
When dried, these retain their form, which accounts for the name "Everlasting".
Along Flat Frog Trail, 27 November 2003.
