Woodwardia fimbriata.   Giant Chain Fern.
Fairly common in Laurel Canyon; uncommon on slopes above the Waterfall.






Dennstaedtiaceae:  Hay-Scented Fern Family

Pteridium aquilinum var. pubescens.  Western Bracken.
Sniveley's Ridge.


Dryopteridaceae:  Wood Fern Family

Dryopteris arguta.  Coastal Wood Fern.  California Wood Fern.
Common.





Polystichum munitum. Western Sword Fern.
Uncommon. In woods above "the Waterfall" and along the Waterfall Trail.


Equisetaceae:  Horsetail Family

Equisetum laevigatum. Smooth Scouring-rush.

Equisetum telmateia ssp. braunii. Giant Horsetail.
Laurel Canyon.


Polypodiaceae:  Polypody Fern Family

Polypodium californicum.  California Polypody.
Common on mossy rocks as along the Buckeye Nature Trail and the Waterfall Trail.





Pteridaceae:  Brake Family

Adiantum capillus-veneris.  Venus-hair Fern.
Rare. Known only from a few plants growing from near the bottom of the cliff of "the Waterfall."







Adiantum jordanii.  California Maidenhair.
Fairly common.

Adiantum pedatum var. aleuticum.  Five-finger Fern.
Rare. Known only from high up the cliff of "the Waterfall."

Pellaea andromedifolia.  Coffee Fern.
Fairly common.






Pellaea mucronata.  Bird's-Foot Fern.  Bird's-Foot Cliff-Brake.

Pentagramma triangularis  (=Pityrogramma triangularis).  Goldenback Fern.


Salviniaceae: SALVINIA FAMILY

Azolla filiculoides. Duckweed Fern. Water Fern.  Fern-like Azolla.


Selaginellaceae:  Selaginella Family

Selaginella bigelovii.  Bigelow Moss-fern.  Bushy Selaginella.
