Coe Reflections
What do you think about Henry W. Coe State Park?
How has it affected your life? What do these wildlands mean to you?
How do you think Coe could be improved?

I'm looking for contributors to this new section.  You need not be a master of the English language (I'm sure not), but just be able to present thoughtful, considered views in a reasonably coherent manner.  Essays, poetry, art, humor, or opinion pieces can be anywhere from a few lines to a few thousand words.  You receive full credit, retain copyright, and have the right to withdraw the contribution as of the next time I revise the website.  Pay?  None.  The real pay is the sharing of your experiences and viewpoints about Coe Park in a public forum.

Here's some subject ideas:

-The joys of wilderness swimming
-Volunteering at Coe Park
-The art of selecting a campsite
-Kids at Coe Park
-How I learned to enjoy holding a snake at Coe
-Photographing Coe
-Taking it easy
-Rainy day hiking
-The sounds of night
-Coe, my refuge from Silicon Valley
-The best ways to relax at Coe

Possible opinion features:
-The park is making trails too easy
-The park should take out roads and trails
-The Backcountry Weekend is a disaster
-All the roads should be open to the public
-Fishing is not compatible with park preservation
-Fishing is a way of being in touch with the land
-Bikes should be banned
-Horses should be banned
-People should be banned
-Rules should be banned

Opinion pieces should be constructive and thoughtfully reasoned, not just a list of gripes.  If they address management issues, I will solicit a response from the responsible park officials.  Slanderous material or personal attacks on management, staff, or particular user groups will not be accepted.

Trip reports are welcome, but will be put in the Trip Reports section unless they are heavy on reflections or philosophy.  Your original Coe songs are also welcome, but will be placed on the Coe Songs page.

Photographs or other illustrations of your own are welcome.  I can scan your slides, photos, or artwork and return them to you if you do not already have them digitized.  If you send any photos with recognizable people on them, you will also need to send a model release—a statement signed by the person (or for minors, signed by their parent or legal guardian) granting permission to publish their image.

You can email your contributions, mail them typed or neatly hand-written, or send them on CD in Word or Wordperfect.
