Arabis breweri. {+} BREWER'S ROCK-CRESS. Perennial. Bl Mar-Apr. Uncommon on dry rocky outcrops throughout, e.g. the Narrows, NE of Los Cruzeros, W end of Mt. Stakes Tr at ca 2740 ft, Robinson Mtn.
Arabis glabra. {++} TOWER-MUSTARD. Biennial or perennial. Bl Mar-May. Open shaded woods. Apparently uncommon; known only from the vicinity of Frog Lake, from N end of Mahoney Ridge, and from summit of Serpentine Road near Willson Peak.
Athysanus pusillus. {++} DWARF ATHYSANUS. SANDWEED. Annual. Bl Mar-Apr. Common in grassy and brushy places throughout.
*Barbarea verna. {+} EARLY WINTER CRESS. Biennial or perennial. Bl Mar-Jul. Common along streams, springs, & other wet places. Springs Tr, Madrone Soda Springs, Little Fk Coyote Ck, Poverty Flat, Middle Fk Coyote Ck on Thomas Addition, Rock House Cyn, E Fk Coyote Ck, Hoover Lake, Mississippi Ck, Pinto Ck, Robinson Ck, Lion Cyn, Hartman Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck, N Fk Pacheco Ck. Native of Europe. The native Barbarea orthoceras has also been reported, but I've been unable to find any. All of the Barbarea I've seen appears to be the non-native species, to which it keys fairly well. I suspect that reports of the native species are based on misidentifications of the non-native.
*Brassica nigra. {+} BLACK MUSTARD. Annual. Bl Mar-Apr (& probably longer). Dry grassy slopes, roadsides, etc. Locally common, e.g. near Coit Camp, near Pacheco Camp, Kaiser-Aetna Rd SE of Burra Burra Pk. Native of Europe.
*Brassica rapa {++} (=Brassica rapa ssp. sylvestris. Brassica campestris). FIELD MUSTARD. Annual. Bl Feb-May. Roadsides and disturbed areas. Uncommon. Pine Ridge (Forest Tr), along rd between Poverty Flat & Jackass Pk, Rock House Cyn. Native of Eurasia.
*Capsella bursa-pastoris. {++} SHEPHERD'S PURSE. Annual. Bl Mar-May. Common along roads and in fields throughout. Native of Europe.
Cardamine californica {++} (=Dentaria californica). MILKMAIDS. CALIFORNIA TOOTHWORT. Perennial. Bl late Dec-May (mostly Feb-Mar). Common in open woods and shady banks. Widespread, e.g. Pine Ridge, Blue Ridge, the Narrows, Willow Ridge, N Fk Pacheco Ck, Mississippi Ck, Red Ck, Hartman Ck, Rooster Comb, S Fk Orestimba Ck, Mustang Flat.
Cardamine oligosperma. {++} FEW-SEEDED BITTER-CRESS. Annual or biennial. Bl Feb-Apr. Moist open woods or canyons. Fairly common throughout.
*Cardaria draba {+} (=Lepidium draba). HOARY CRESS. Perennial. Bl Apr-May. Common in field in side cyn below Kelly Lake; also just S of mouth of Robinson Ck, at Dowdy Ranch, near mouth of Hunting Hollow, and near the roadside spring along the Kaiser-Aetna Rd close to Bell Station. Native of Eurasia. Keys well to this species, but the manuals describe its maximum height as around 2½ feet tall. Many of the Coe plants are taller, some up to 4 feet high.
Descurainia pinnata ssp. menziesii. {++} WESTERN TANSY-MUSTARD. Annual. Bl Mar-Apr. Dry sandy disturbed areas. Uncommon, noted only up a side cyn of S Fk Orestimba Ck about 1½ mile NE of Rooster Comb.
*Descurainia sophia. {++} FLIXWEED. Annual. Bl Apr-Jun. Dry disturbed areas. Known only from Coe HQ by the White Barn, and on Pacheco Ridge NE of Pacheco Camp. Native of Europe.
*Draba verna. {++} WHITLOW-GRASS. Annual. Bl Feb-Apr. Common in poor, often gravelly soil, especially on the E side of the park. HQ Campground, Coyote Ck downstream from China Hole, Poverty Flat, E Fk Coyote Ck, Kelly Cabin Cyn, N Fk Pacheco Ck, Mississippi Lake, Red Ck, Hartman Ck, S Fk Orestimba Ck. Native of Europe.
Erysimum capitatum. {++} DOUGLAS' WALLFLOWER. WESTERN WALLFLOWER. Biennial. Bl Mar-May. Dry stony places, e.g. E Fk Coyote Ck near end of Rock House Ridge, slopes of Jackson Canyon (SE end of Mahoney Ridge), Willow Ridge, pass between Robinson Ck & Red Ck, serpentine hillside in far NE corner of park.
Guillenia lasiophylla {++} (=Thelypodium lasiophyllum. Caulanthus lasiophyllus). CALIFORNIA MUSTARD. Annual. Bl Mar-Apr. Slopes, in washes, canyons, etc. Uncommon. China Hole Trail burn area at ca elev. 1560 ft; Kelly Cabin Canyon northwest of Kelly Lake; hilltop to S & E of jct Red Ck & S Fk Orestimba; Mustang Flat area.
*Hirschfeldia incana {++} (=Sinapis incana. Brassica geniculata). MEDITERRANEAN MUSTARD. SUMMER MUSTARD. SHORTPOD MUSTARD. Biennial or perennial. Bl late Mar-Nov. Roadsides and other disturbed areas. Fairly common throughout. Native of Europe.
Idahoa scapigera. {++} FLATPOD. Annual. Bl Apr & probably earlier. Open places, usually where moist early in the year. Thomas Addition.
Lepidium nitidum. {++} SHINING PEPPERGRASS. COMMON PEPPERGRASS. Annual. Bl Feb-early Apr. Abundant in open places throughout.
*Raphanus sativus. {++} WILD RADISH. Annual or biennial. Bl Apr & probably longer. Fields, disturbed areas. Coe HQ, Dowdy Ranch. Native of Europe.
Rorippa curvisiliqua. {++} WESTERN YELLOW-CRESS. Annual or biennial. Bl May-Sept. Along Middle Fk Coyote Ck in Thomas Addition. Tule Pond.
*Rorippa nasturtium-aquaticum {++} (=Nasturtium officinale). WATER-CRESS. Perennial. Bl May-Jul. Springy areas, slow streams. Uncommon. Soda Springs Cyn, Middle Fk Coyote Ck upstream of Upper Camp, the Narrows, Blue Tank Spr, Grapevine Spring area, below Kelly Lake dam, Coon Hunter's Gulch, Upper San Antonio Valley, Hatch Spring ck, the Bowl Trail between Middle Steer Ridge and Lyman Willson Ridge Rd, roadside spring near Bell Station. Native of Eurasia.
