Habitat and habit, in bloom.

It is surrounded by Coast Live Oak (Quercus agrifolia) and a few
California Laurel (Umbellularia californica).

Young fruit.  Before they mature, most of the fruit you see on each stem will
have aborted.  Usually only one or two fruit on each branch reaches full development.
