Habit and habitat.
Resprouting from basal burls on the north end of
Blue Ridge near the park boundary after the prescribed burn of May 1988.
Pine Ridge is in the background. The greener shrub also stump-sprouting
at middle right of the image is Arctostaphylos (probably glandulosa).
